Dr. Lawrence Stone
Dr. Stone earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana attaining Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors. His MD degree was obtained at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where he remained for his residency. Dr. Stone completed fellowships in advanced cataract surgery at Woodbury Memorial Hospital and the Wills Eye Institute (New Jersey and Pennsylvania) and in oculoplastics at McGill University and Universite de Montreal (Montreal, Quebec).
In 1986, he founded his concierge style private office in Chicago’s Loop. That same year he joined the Illinois Eye Institute as a charter member of its ophthalmology faculty. He stayed there for 10 years teaching and lecturing on glaucoma, cataract management, pterygium surgery and oculoplastics.
His career included clinical appointments at Loyola University and University of Chicago. He has numerous textbook chapters, peer reviewed journal articles, and lectures to his credit. He innovated and gave courses on early glaucoma detection at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Additional laurels included Castle-Connelly Top Docs 2007-2010 and Top Docs Honor Citation 2015-2016.
He has been an ophthalmology malpractice and disability expert on cases in Indiana, Kansas, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Illinois. Those have included penetrating injuries of the globe, blunt eye trauma, concussion, cataract surgery complications, angle closure glaucoma, open angle glaucoma, uveitis, retinitis, orbital cellulitis, retinal detachment and endophthalmitis.
